Assassin's Creed Shadows map size confirmed, and she's a hefty beast

Assassin's Creed Shadows was announced yesterday, and we now know the size of the game

The Assassin's Creed Shadows map size has been revealed in a new interview, and it's a lot bigger than the map in the last game, Assassin's Creed Mirage.

The news was revealed in an interview with IGN, with creative director Jonathan Dumont revealing that the game is "in-line with the latest Assassin's Creeds that we've done."

"On a scale level, maybe we can compare it a little bit more to the size of Assassin's Creed Origins," Dumont explained to the outlet.

"We did want to have a much closer to real life scale ratio. So because castles took a lot of space, and we really wanted the mountains to feel like mountains, [we've made] the environments feel wider in the game. But I would say around the size as Origins," Dumont continued.

Assassin's Creed Shadows was first revealed last night [May 15] and showed off two different characters that players can play as: Yasuke and Naoe. While no gameplay was shown off alongside the official cinematic reveal, it's likely that with the upcoming season of reveals across Summer Game Fest, and the already announced Ubisoft Forward that is taking place on June 10, we'll see more from the game sooner rather than later.

In a separate interview with IGN, Dumont revealed that fans of the game can expect to see a grappling hook in the game, something that was first seen in Assassin's Creed Syndicate.

"Parkour has always been something that's pretty iconic and pretty core to the stealth experience because they go hand-in-hand. It's [The grappling hook] all physics-based, so there's a little bit of improbability sometimes when using it. There's a danger to using it, but you could also perform assassinations from it."
