'Elden Ring' Demigods All Share The Same Impressive Easter Egg

The latest FromSoftware extravaganza, Elden Ring, has been out around three weeks now, and as players explore the world, they are beginning to peel back the layers of the story.

The world of Elden Ring is bigger than anything Soulsborne creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has ever given us before, and so it's no wonder players are still discovering more about the lore. Like all FromSoftware game, most of the story is told a little through item descriptions and snippets of dialogue, but mostly through looking around the big wide gorgeous world.

Many might know that George R.R. Martin, writer of the world shaking Game Of Thrones - except that terrible last season - contributed to much of Elden Ring's story. That's not to mean he wrote the dialogue, more that he wrote a general outline of the world, and the creatures lurking within it. This outline was the one around which Miyazaki could create his game.

In a move that would make Death Stranding director Hideo Kojima proud, Martin has left his mark throughout the land of the tarnished. As spotted by PC Gamer, when you look at the names of all the major rune dropping gods and demi-gods littered throughout the map, a distinct pattern starts to emerge.

The four bigger, badder, boys of the latest FromSoftware fare are called, Godfrey, Rennala, Radagon, and Marika. Much like Matt Groening carves his initials on the side of Homer's head, George R.R. Martin has managed to sneak himself into every corner of the world he designed.

He didn't stop putting his monograph only there. We have Godwyn, Radahn, Rykard, and Morgott. Follow them up with Godrick, Ranni, Renna and Mogh. If that's not enough there's plenty more M's in Malenia, Miquella, and Maliketh. His initials may not appear as often as Mr. Kojima's do in the credits for Metal Gear Solid: V, but Martin made sure those that bear his name are unforgettable.
