Ghost Of Tsushima movie director inspired by TLOU's commitment to the source material

Ghost of Tsushima movie director, Chad Stahelski is inspired by The Last of Us’ commitment to the source material.

The prospect of the Ghost of Tsushima movie being a quality action-orientated trip to the cinema is aided by the fact that it's being led by the director of the John Wick franchise. However, as with any video game adaptation, there’s always that chance that it will fail to deliver or will be quite unrecognisable from its source material.

That being said, The Last of Us TV series from HBO proved that quality video game adaptations can be a thing and can in fact thrive. As reported by Comicbook.com, Stahelski spoke the words that Ghost of Tsushima fans wanted to hear.

When speaking to Eric Italiano of the Post Credit Podcast, Chad Stahelski, who is also directing a Rainbow Six movie, revealed that The Last of Us adaptation is inspiring him to respect the source material.

“I hope that The Last of Us shines a further light on upcoming video game adaptions,” said Stahelski. “Rainbow Six, Ghost of Tsushima I'm working on. Both are fantastic projects that I really hope come to fruition. But Ghost... it's got an amazing story. It's an anti-samurai samurai movie. It's got great thematics.

“We have a lot of push on that and a lot of interest because The Last of Us pushing that, yes, the curse of video game-to-movie is kind of lifted. It can be done. You've just got to give it love and attention. And Ghost, of probably all the other video game [movies] in development, I think that's the one that's going to land.”

At the time of writing, neither the Ghost of Tsushima nor the Rainbow Six movie has a release date. Regardless, hopefully, The Last of Us adaptation from HBO will continue to raise the bar.

In related news, a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima from Sucker Punch Productions has seemingly been all but confirmed.
