Take a trip back in time with these two classic bangers

Nintendo fans everywhere, we are blessed this fine day with not one but two classic games available to download right now.

Yes, you read that right: Nintendo Switch users are being treated to a wonderfully nostalgic trip back in time with two surprise drops on the Nintendo Online + Expansion Pack.

Both titles hail back to the 90s; Extreme-G was released in 1997, and Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls came out in 1998. What a time to be alive!

Watch all your dreams come true in the Nintendo 64 April update below

If you’re too young to remember these retro delights, fear not, for you can now access them just as if you had whipped out that bad boy N64 your folks talk about so much.

You might look at the blocky graphics and wonder if anyone is hyped about this surprise announcement, and to that we say – yes, yes they really are.

“DAMN PULLIN OUT ALL THE STOPS WITH THESE BANGERS LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” posted Twitter user RGT_85.

Other gamers were equally as thrilled by the announcement; “Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls is an absolute hidden gem!” said Walmart Canada Gaming. Don't believe us? Take a look for yourselves.

As “random” as this drop is, it’s got players hopeful that more beloved N64 titles will eventually join the service, particularly Diddy Kong Racing.

Nintendo hasn’t hinted if that drop is around the corner, but the fact it's adding such bangers from that era feels like one heck of a great start.

If you welcome this surprise as much as us, do keep in mind that you’ll need to pay for Nintendo Online + Expansion Pack to access these games. Sadly, while Nintendo is gifting us with retro gems without paying for them individually, it isn’t gifting us totally free access to them.

It’s time to start your engines and put the pedal to the metal.
