Horizon Forbidden West free update massively boosts the game's frame rate

Horizon Forbidden West already plays pretty smoothly on PC, though a new update makes the game’s performance even better.

The PC port of Horizon Forbidden West has been an absolute blast so far, giving an entirely new audience the chance to play one of the best PlayStation exclusives.

So far, everything has been running smoothly, though players with more advanced hardware are obviously having a better time than others, as they can really bump up the graphical fidelity and frames.

Of course, if you want to push things even further, you could add a few mods into the mix, though why bother when a new update for the game does the job for you?

The Sony-owned studio Nixxe, that’s been responsible for a variety of PlayStation PC ports like Marvel’s Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, has released an update for the Horizon game, boosting its frame rate.

Not only does the game load and move faster, it reportedly doesn’t hinder the game’s resolution, so you can experience the best of both worlds in terms of graphics and performance.

This is done through the introduction of Intel XeSS 1.3, an equivalent to Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR used in other PC games.

Nvidia DLSS is already compatible with Horizon Forbidden West but AMD FSR is yet to be supported, nevertheless players have some options now.

Some of the highlights of the new update include improved visual quality of dust, added Interface Text Size options improvements to texture streaming to reduce memory usage, improved quality and more.

All in all, it’s a pretty good update provided you’ve got the hardware to take advantage of it, and you’ll need it for Horizon Forbidden West as it’s probably one of the most visually stunning games currently on the market.
