Palworld PlayStation 5 release quietly teased

Palworld PlayStation 5 release quietly teased

Xbox may have just teased their intent to help launch Palworld on PlayStation.

Palworld may eventually launch on PlayStation 5 if this latest Xbox tease is anything to go by.

Well, Palworld is still easily the year’s biggest hit so far. The survival crafting adventure has already amassed over 19 million players worldwide across Steam and Xbox - and given that that figure was revealed back on 31 January, chances are it has grown since. Palworld is available on Xbox Game Pass, becoming the biggest third-party launch of all time on the service. Some players faced waits of up to 40 minutes to enter Palworld’s servers via cloud gaming but Xbox has since announced a partnership with PocketPair to boost support for the game. This bodes well for its future, but could that future involve a PlayStation port?

Take a look at Palworld in action below.

As reported by Inverse, Xbox president Sarah Bond recently told employees during an internal meeting that “every screen is an Xbox” in the company’s future vision, seemingly confirming rumours that Xbox is soon set to adopt a multi-platform model. Bond then reportedly used Palworld as an example, showing it playing across a variety of screens and devices to show how Xbox could expand its empire via multi-platform releases.

While this is by no means concrete proof that Palworld is coming to PlayStation 5, we cannot simply ignore that this example was used. PocketPair has previously expressed interest in widening Palworld’s availability. Its new partnership with Xbox could certainly help the studio achieve that, potentially porting the game to PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

There is, of course, also the rumour that Xbox Game Pass could be rebranded as Microsoft Game Pass, potentially launching on other platforms. That too could widen access to Palworld. With Phil Spencer set to outline company plans during a special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast later today, we should at least get some answers then.
