PS5 new software update just dropped, adds some helpful features

Life while gaming is about to get a little better

With every update, PlayStation slowly but surely polishes its PS5 features to make life that little bit easier for its players.

In the latest PlayStation software update, you’ll find several changes that we think you’ll find quite helpful.

Before you get your hopes up, this update unfortunately doesn’t bring back the PS4 heyday of themes like fans demand. We’ll have to wait a little longer for that... possibly indefinitely.

Although these tweaks aren’t as aesthetically pleasing as themes, they will impact how your gaming experience looks.

Have you ever been playing and “Remote Play connected” keeps popping up on the screen, much to your annoyance? Well, Sony has fixed that.

As per the PlayStation software update notes, you just need to head into settings, then into system, and finally where it says ‘remote play’ just toggle those statuses off.

Partnered with this useful feature, users will also find that the Game Help section now has a Community Game Help label, which is for hints “generated from other players' gameplay videos”.

You can also opt in to automatically upload and share captured footage to contribute towards this new section.

“To opt in, go to Settings > Captures & Broadcasts > Captures > Auto Captures > Community Game Help, and then select Participate. You can also opt out at any time,” read the update notes.

Lastly, there are more minor changes, such as “improved system software performance and stability”.

Granted, none of this is going to dramatically alter your lives, but updates don’t need to be awe inspiring to improve how we game.

If you’re keen to further improve your experience, there’s one underused feature that will save you heaps of time when starting a new game.

Play the way you want, just make sure not to make it unnecessarily harder by missing out on key update details.
