PlayStation 5 update rolls out new feature that's instantly roasted by fans

I think it's fair to say that the PlayStation 5, while an undeniably excellent console, hasn't quite lived up to its full potential yet.

There's the relative dearth of first-party games that aren't remakes or also available on PlayStation 4, for one thing. Then there's the system itself, which is still missing features that fans are crying out for.

Recent updates have made some big strides in terms of introducing some very welcome fixes and tweaks, but there's definitely still more to do. However, one of the latest new features to be introduced is... not one any of us have been begging for.

Over the weekend PlayStation announced that it's bringing Remote Play to Android TV OS devices and Chromecast with Google TVs.

For those that might not know what this means, Remote Play is a PlayStation feature that allows you to access and stream your video games remotely, typically on a mobile device so you can play games in handheld. Assuming your internet connection is good enough, anyway.

Bringing Remote Play to select TVs will allow gamers to play their PlayStation games on a larger screen no matter where they are, which actually does sound rather nice on paper. But it didn't take much for gamers to roast this one.

"Finally I can play playstation on my TV," reads the top comment on the Reddit announcement.

"I have owned every PlayStation from PS1 to now; being able to finally play on my TV is a game changer," another user added.

On a more serious note, some users are unsure whether Remote Play will be worth it on a TV, with many only using it on mobile devices in a pinch due to latency issues.

"IDK if remote play on anything bigger than a phone or small tablet with be fun," one user writes. "I tried it on my 27inch monitor and that shit looks blurry as hell even with the highest resolution output settings."

Others argue it'll be nice being able to play PlayStation on any TV in their house without having to move their PlayStation. To which I say: just move your PlayStation, it's not that hard.
