Steam free download is perfect if you're craving some classic Zelda

Zelda fans will love this game!

If you’re after some classic The Legend of Zelda of the NES and SNES era, then this upcoming dungeon crawler RPG might be your cup of tea.

The Legend of Zelda was first released for the NES in 1986 and upon its arrival, it changed the landscape of the video game RPG forever. Up to that point, I believe few would have played a video game as immersive with a sense of adventure wonderfully crafted by the legendary Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka.

Check out the Quest Master trailer below!

Since that time, The Legend of Zelda series has grown bigger and arguably better with each release with the last being 2023’s Tears of the Kingdom for the Nintendo Switch. However, for me, A Link to the Past for the SNES in 1991 will also hold a special place in my heart.

So if, like me, you appreciate some old-school The Legend of Zelda then the upcoming indie title Quest Master, developed by Skydevilpalm and Julian Creutz, could be worth your attention. What’s more, you can download and play its free demo right now via Steam ahead of its early access launch later this month.

Quest Master is a dungeon maker inspired by the classics that first made us love dungeon crawling. Unleash your imagination, alone or in local co-op, to make dungeons full of puzzles, traps and monsters,” reads the description of the game.

Moreover, Quest Master also allows you to create your own dungeons and upload them for others to play. I suppose Quest Master could be a Zelda-inspired spiritual successor to Super Mario Maker, of sorts.

Quest Master is currently scheduled to enter its early access phase on 29 May 2024 but no full release date has been announced yet. There is also no word on a console release at the time of writing but I really hope that changes because Quest Master seems very suited for the Nintendo Switch.
