Xbox users warned to act now to avoid losing content next month

Not to unduly alarm you, but you’re at risk of losing content you took your time to get if you don’t act soon.

Sadly, you’re on limited time, my friends – if you intend to do something with those in-game moments you’ve captured, you’d better do it now. Or at least in the very near future.

This comes after an Xbox warning started appearing on users’ screens, alerting them to the fact that they only have 90 days before that capture goes bye-bye.

According to the Microsoft announcement that was shared on Reddit, this deletion of content will begin from 30 May.

If you’re a tad confused by this news, you’re not alone; “Wait, I thought this already happened in January? I got this message last year,” one user asked.

To that, someone replied, “That was a notification.” When the same person queried it again, still clearly confused, another comment said, “[No] this time it is an order!”

That announcement does feel like an order, or as we said, a warning. While some have been helpfully telling others how to avoid losing their content – you just back it up on OneDrive, as per Microsoft’s instructions – others are ticked off.

“I’m so glad the world's richest company decided it just couldn't handle the cost of a few gigabytes per person,” joked one user.

Just to add further fuel to the raging flames, capture saved on the “internal console” is also up for deletion too.

Another user explained, “They will delete automatically without telling you to make more room for more clips, even if your internal storage is nowhere near full.”

Assuming you’re not so bitter about this news that you never want to touch an Xbox again, you could win a free Xbox Series X if you play your cards right. Though, another warning here, fans are divided over this hardware announcement.
