If it were a perfect world, there wouldn’t be any console-exclusive games, but we live in a capitalist society and, honestly, we’re used to seeing some titles stick to one side of the fence. Exclusives are big money and keep players either siding with one company over another or dropping cash on more than one system.
Perhaps Sony’s biggest titles, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, were always pitched to look like exclusives to the PlayStation brand. It seems like this is a permanent fixture. Sorry Xbox fans, it looks like Cloud and the gang are only showing up for PlayStation.

Speaking to the Washington Post, Christian Svensson, vice president of second and third-party content ventures and strategic initiatives at Sony Interactive Entertainment, commented on the exclusivity of the trilogy. Svensson said, “Securing the ‘Final Fantasy VII’ trilogy as a console exclusive is a feather in the PlayStation cap. It’s part of recognizing the original game’s importance as a defining game for the PlayStation experience.”

That’s a pretty emphatic answer seemingly confirming what we all thought to be true. It doesn’t take the sting out of it being officially said though. The first two parts of the remake trilogy have been incredibly well-received and there are bound to be millions of fans who would want to see the games released for Xbox.
The adventures of Cloud, Barrett, and the others can be played on PC, however, with Remake already out and Rebirth on the way, but you’d need a pretty beefy rig in order to play it. Players can still hold out some hope that it’s a timed exclusive, or maybe Microsoft will pony up something like The Elder Scrolls VI in a trade, but we won’t hold our breath.
