Skyrim meets Pokémon in this gorgeous creature-collecting RPG

Skyrim meets Pokémon in this gorgeous creature-collecting RPG

We have a sudden urge to collect 'em all...

Right now, a lot of Pokémon fans are joining the world of Palworld to get their monster catching fix. But there’s another game on the way that brings together the fantastical features of Skyrim and marries it with Pokémon to create a near perfect experience.

It doesn’t take much for my curiosity to be piqued when there’s unusual creatures to be wrangled, so perhaps I’m too easily swayed by this news, but I think it’s fair to say that Coridden is a game worth sticking around for.

Have you watched the official Kickstarter trailer for Coridden? It'll definitely get you in the mood for monster hunting!

Coridden isn’t out yet. However, having smashed its Kickstater target, the PC title is gearing up for a release for later in the year. Described as an action RPG where you play as a “monster-shifter”, the way you play will truly vary depending on the creatures you meet, catch, and defeat. We’re not sure if you befriend monsters like in Pokémon, but we suspect it’ll eventually be included if it isn’t initially.

Your beast form, much like being Dragonborn in Skyrim, allows you to unlock unique abilities that others cannot. Like in Persona games, you’re unique amongst your peers, with only a select few able to join you on your journey.

If you can’t wait for Steam’s Coridden to launch, you can entertain yourself with the free demo, or you can opt to join the 25 million players over in Palworld. After all, both routes will help you better prepare for monster hunting. However, only one will give you the ideal experience for such a fantastical world like in Coridden.

There are four protagonists to choose from when starting on your adventure, each with their own special set of skills, and unique personalities. However, the devs assure us you won’t miss out on anything by favouring one over the other.

Coridden will release later in 2024, and is available as a free demo on Steam right now.
